“The Prophet Joseph Smith was once asked, ‘Brother Joseph, you frequently urge that we magnify our callings. What does this mean?’ He is said to have replied, ‘To magnify a calling is to hold it up in dignity and importance, that the light of heaven may shine through one’s performance.’”
President Thomas S. Monson, “Our Sacred Priesthood Trust,” Ensign, May 2006, 56.
I stumbled onto your Japanese family history blog while I was googling about kanji numerics in Japanese registries. I know you haven't posted there for a long time, but it is full of great information. I also wondered if you were LDS, and indeed, you are. I was born in Japan, grew up in the US, and joined the church at age 19. I felt an instant kinship with you and just wanted to reach out and say, hey, great blog!

Yes I am LDS! My parents joined the church while they were living in Tokyo (my dad is Japanese, my mom is Caucasian), and I also was born in Japan and grew up in the US =) Thanks so much for reaching out! I need to do more posting on both blogs, but right now I have 5 little boys 8 and under so my family history research has slowed down quite a bit =) It is wonderful to connect with others like me! I'd love to hear if you've done any family history research as well, or if you have any suggestions or contributions for that blog!
